Richardson named to hospital post

Burleigh Richardson has been named director of the emergency department at The Villages Regional Hospital.

Richardson, who was previously interim director of the hospital’s emergency department, has been at the hospital group that includes The Villages Regional since 2006. He previously worked at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala for 14 years.

Richardson began his career as a pediatrics nurse at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska.

The Villages hospital is part of the Central Florida Health Alliance, a nonprofit hospital system that includes the 309-bed Leesburg Regional Medical Center, the 198-bed The Villages Regional Hospital and urgent care, post acute care and wellness services.
