Triangle Business Journal

Durham-based Analytical Sciences Inc. today announced that it has acquired United Information Systems, a private technology and health sciences company based in Bethesda, Md.

With its purchase of UIS and its 150 employees, ASI is now a company with about 450 employees and annual revenues in excess of $40 million. The company offers expanded science and technology services, as well as additional professional resources with a wider range of expertise.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

"This is an exciting opportunity for us to expand everything we do toward enhancing the human health condition," Donald A. Holzworth, ASI president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. "It offers our staff more opportunities to work on projects of national significance, and it provides our clients with additional resources that they can call upon to achieve their various missions - all of which are consistent with our vision of enhancing human health through innovative science, technology and knowledge solutions."

As part of the acquisition, Bill Johnston, UIS' former president & CEO, has become executive vice president and director of ASI client relations, overseeing all business development, sales and marketing.
