SBC to help overseas military connect with family

St. Louis Business Journal

SBC Southwestern Bell is helping members of the military serving overseas connect with friends and family for the holidays.

SBC is donating $250,000 to the Veterans of Foreign Wars for its Operation Uplink program, which will use the funds to provide more than 30,000 prepaid calling cards to the military and hospitalized veterans.

Residents of the 13 states in which Southwestern Bell operates can register to have a free 10-minute phone card send to their family member in the military or in a veteran's hospital.

SBC also said it would allow military personnel returning from Operation Enduring Freedom to reconnect their phone service free of charge.

San Antonio, Texas-based SBC Southwestern Bell provides local and long-distance phone service in Missouri.
